Dear Members of the Community,
Re: Request for volunteers to assist with Covid-19 Lateral Flow Device testing at Budehaven Community School
I hope you and your families are keeping well.
I am sure you have seen and heard in the media that schools are required to carry out Lateral Flow Device testing for Covid-19 with all staff and students on their return to school. At Budehaven Community School, since returning from the Christmas break on 4th January, we have set-up and are running a testing facility. We are delighted that the plans we made have come to fruition and the process is working very well with the reduced number of students and staff in school.
When we return to school with greater numbers of students, we will need to extend the testing facility, and many of the staff who are currently helping with the administration and processing of the tests will need to return to their full-time roles in school. For this reason, I am writing to members of the community to ask for volunteers to help. Full training will be provided for all volunteers, as well as full PPE for all.
As the Prime Minister announced in his press conference yesterday, the Government are hoping that more students will return to school in early March, but this depends upon the impact of the vaccination programme. For this reason, I cannot confirm the exact start dates for the increased roll-out of the testing programme, but I anticipate that it is likely to be from early March onwards. However, as we all know, many things have changed over the last year, often last-minute, so I will update members of our community as and when I have more information.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to help us at this challenging time, please complete the Google form that can be found at this link: http://bit.ly/covid-test-volunteers
If you have any questions, or problems accessing the online form, please email enquiries@budehaven.cornwall.sch.uk or telephone us on 01288 353271, and we will be in touch within 48 hours within the working week.
Thank you in advance for any help you, or members of your family of friendship circle can offer us.
Kind regards,
Mr Dominic Wilkes
