‘We value education and the chances this gives us in life’ The
Under the leadership of Headteacher Mr Wilkes, pupils and staff worked together on defining the kind of school we are. Together we created ‘The Budehaven Way’, which underpins everything we do in school, from the relationships that we build with one another to the ambitions we have for the future. We have thought very carefully about what this means in practice.
We are ambitious. We dream big and give it our best. We want good grades.
We finish what we start. We do not quit.
We believe in ourselves and our school. We don’t think that there are any limits to what we can achieve in our learning and in school. We don’t believe that there are any barriers too big that we can’t get over (with the right help).
We look smart, act smart, to think smart.
We value mistakes. We know it is OK to make mistakes and to learn from them, but it’s not OK to keep making the same mistakes.
We are self-improving. We reflect and evaluate and know where we are, what our next steps need to be, we act on advice, we reflect, and we put it right ourselves.
We are explorers and we are curious. We look beyond Bude. We find out about the world and bring it into the classroom.
We trust each other. We trust the experts in our school and we act on their advice. We trust that we want the best for each other.
We look after each other. We know that we will all get stressed at some point. We won’t take it out on each other. We will understand and look out for each other’s wellbeing and mental health.
We are proud. We are proud of our school. We are proud of our work and show off our best efforts.
We co-operate. We co-operate with each other as we know we are all here for the same reason.
We create opportunities and make connections.
We are motivated and happy.
We are kind. We treat each other with kindness. We treat ourselves with kindness.
We are welcoming and friendly.
We are knowledgeable citizens. We want to know about and understand wider global issues so we can make wise choices.
We are proud of our achievements and we celebrate success.
We respect each other. We appreciate our differences (but know that we have more in common than what sets us apart).
We value education and the chances this gives us in life.
