Uniform
Uniform Policy
Throughout Budehaven Community School, our expectation for exemplary behaviour, both in and out of school, is reflected in our expectation of uniform compliance. We expect and trust that parents and carers, students and staff work together to promote fairness and consistency and to prevent valuable school time being diverted to following up on breaches of uniform policy.

Year 7 Uniform for September 2026
Bearing in mind that we are likely to make considerable changes to school uniform for the next academic year, when your child enters Year 8, we do not want you to have to spend more this year than you need to, in order to ensure your child wears the correct uniform.
To this aim, the uniform for our new Year 7 cohort will have the following adjustments:
Uniform expectations

Our uniform was designed with the distinct purpose of differentiating between leisure and learning time. It was chosen to foster a smart image for students and to encourage them to be ready to focus on their work, free from distractions. We strive to support our students to develop themselves academically and socially and prepare themselves for life after school where a dress code or other restrictions may be expected.
Wearing the Budehaven School uniform, means that all students are ambassadors for our school and we hope all our students take this responsibility seriously. Taking pride in our school uniform demonstrates a commitment to our high standards of conduct and support of our shared values. We hope it indicates a sense of loyalty to one another and a commitment to look after what we have, our buildings, our equipment and our environment. It encapsulates our pride in our school community.

PE Kit to be worn to school on CORE PE Lesson days only.
If pupils attend PE extra-curricular clubs on days they do not have PE timetabled, they will be expected to change into PE kit at 3:15pm.
Any PE clothing items that do not conform to the expected kit above, will be exchanged for correct kit on the day, and parents and carers will be expected to correct any incorrect items. Pupils will be expected to wear these items and fully engage in the lesson, without question. If this happens on several occasions' sanctions will be put in place and the privilege to wear PE kit to school may be removed.
Pupils are permitted to wear the school jumper, blazer and coat in addition to the PE kit on cooler days. Pupils will be expected to remove these to participate fully in their PE lesson, this will be at the PE teachers’ discretion, considering the weather and safety.
If you are facing significant hardship, please contact Miss Miles via Class Charts with regards to discussing a suitable provision of PE kit.
If a pupil is unable to be active in PE lessons, a note of explanation must be provided from home via class charts and a written note to hand to the pupil's PE teacher. If for a long period of time, a medical note will be required. Where possible, excused pupils will still take part in the lesson but in an alternative role such as assistant leader, coach or referee. It is important that they still attend with their full PE kit. They will be required to change if they fail to do so.
If you have any questions or queries regarding the PE kit provision, please contact your child's PE teacher, form tutor or Head of Year on Class Charts.
