Minecraft with The Environment Agency
Staff from the Environment Agency visited Budehaven this morning and met a selection of our KS3 students who had an opportunity to trial a new Geography minecraft game, based on coastal erosion at Summerleaze beach in Bude.

The game aligns really well with the KS3 Geography curriculum, introducing a range of specific coastal geography terms and encouraging the development of decision making skills about coastal management in a unique and fun way.
The game introduced students to the idea of stakeholders and how difficult it can be to meet the needs of all groups when managing the coast. One mini-quest was moving the Storm Tower and another was what to do about sand on Summerleaze car park - incredibly
topical at the moment!

The final session involved interviews with students who spoke eloquently about their learning, as well as a chance for them to recommend improvements and make suggestions to the game builders.

Thank you to all our students who participated. You were incredible and a credit to the school. I hope you enjoyed it!
