Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: High temperatures forecast for Monday 18th July
Due to prolonged high temperatures expected in to early next week, Cornwall is now in a Level Three Heat Health Alert.
Cornwall Council have released information to schools, with advice on keeping safe during a heatwave.
To keep everyone as safe as possible, please can you ensure you send your child to school with plenty water, and ensure they have a re-fillable bottle.
At break and lunchtimes, we will open the Tennis Dome to ensure there is a covered area, as keeping out of direct sunshine during the hottest part of the day is advisable. If your child wishes to be outside during break and lunchtime, please send them to school with appropriate sun cream/sun hat/cap etc.
On Monday, students will not be required to bring their blazer to school, and they do not have to wear a tie to school. This is a temporary adjustment, and once temperatures fall, and when Cornwall is no longer in a level three heat health alert, we will return to normal uniform expectations.
Sports Day is scheduled for Thursday 21st July, weather permitting. This is planned to go ahead, as the temperatures for this date are forecast to be back to a seasonal average level. We will update you if this is not going ahead as planned.
Our expectations for behaviour and standards in school remain the same during this time. Please support us and your child by reinforcing this at home.
Yours faithfully,
Mr D Wilkes
Headteacher
