Year 9 and Year 8 students were nominated to take part in a French escape room on Tuesday 25th Feb. The escape room is a service provided by Voyager School Tours to enable students to use French for real purposes whilst still remaining on the school site. Students arrived in small groups at the Dome and were met by JuJu, a French border control officer.
He introduced them to the challenge in the tent, which was set up as the border control office at a French ferry port. Students had 30 mins to solve 5 clues in French to enable them to find their passports and escape the office and return back to England. Students could only communicate with JuJu in French. Out of 9 groups, only one group was able to solve all the clues and find the passports (and a big bag of sweets!).
Many other groups were very close to completing the challenge.
Thank you to Mrs Wilson for arranging the day and the PE department for giving up their use of the Dome! The students had a great time and enjoyed using their French non stop for 30 minutes. It was a great team building activity and all the participants made us proud with their engagement and problem solving skills.
