‘We look after each other’ The Budehaven Way
The school operates on a two-week timetable which allows us to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils have timetables for Week A and Week B. You can check which week it is by accessing the school calendar.
There are 50 lessons of one hour, over the fortnight. We start the day with a 20 minute tutor time session in which pupils attend assemblies, discuss their attendance, behaviour and achievements with their form tutor and participate in discussions. As pupils move into the GCSE years, they might also revise during this time or access extra-support with subject specialists.
After tutor time, pupils move into lessons. There are 5 lessons per day; 4 lessons before lunch and 1 lesson in the afternoon. We stop for a break at 11:10 for 20 minutes and for lunch at 1:30 pm for 50 minutes. During these times, pupils enjoy food in the Budehaven Diner or eat their packed lunches. There are clubs available at lunchtimes if pupils want to keep busy.
The school day finishes at 3:20 but many pupils attend after-school clubs, use the library, or access extra support or revision sessions with subject teachers between 3:30 and 4:30 pm.
