We were informed on Friday that OfSTED, the school inspectorate are visting Budehaven on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, 16th and 17th March.  All children will be bringing a letter home on Monday evening from the inspectors together with a questionnaire for parents to complete and return on Tuesday.

I would urge you all to take five minutes to complete the questionnaire; parents' commitment to, and support of the school are important elements in the inspection process.  During Monday approximately 300 students (a cross section from all year groups) will also be completing a student questionnaire.

I had an initial conversation with the Lead Inspector, Mr Paul Sadler on Friday and he has advised me that the outcomes of the inspection will be reported immediately after the Easter holidays.  I shall ensure that a copy of the full report is sent to all parents as soon as it is published.

Best wishes,

David Barton

Budehaven student and badminton player Tony MarshallTony Marshall, a talented Badminton player in Year 11, is showing his worth at County Level.

He was delighted to be one of 5 boys and 5 girls selected to represent the county at the ICT (Inter County’s Tournament).

The tournament is run over four days in the summer playing three full matches each day.

Tony says he will have to work hard between now and the summer to keep his place in the squad and will be working on his fitness.

Tony trains in St Austell every week and regularly plays county matches. However, this is the first year Tony has had the opportunity to go to the ICT although he has played county badminton since he was under 13.

Tony began playing in the Leisure Centre at Budehaven 6 years ago and his talent has flourished from there. He now plays matches for Camelford every week.

Congratulations Tony and good luck with your ICT preparations.

xs-nrg dancers perform beachcomber dance with buckets and spadesEnergetic Budehaven Dance Group XS NRG! continue delighting audiences across Cornwall.

XS NRG! has been working very hard this year preparing work for public performances. In November they danced at Bodmin College in ‘Light and Darke’ and on January 24th they danced in ‘Darke Nights’ at The Hall for Cornwall, Truro.

Both performances were in celebration of Cornish playwright, Nick Darke and featured a range of youth dance groups from around the county. Their dance, entitled Beachcombers, was inspired by Darke’s writings on beachcombing and the objects which he found.

Featuring 27 dancers from Years 9 - 13, it began with a tongue in cheek routine complete with buckets and spades to the music Oh I do like to be beside the seaside. The second section of the dance explored what happens to objects in the sea which are then found on the strandline.
