Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Update on return to school for different year groups
Happy New Year to you and your families. I hope that 2021 sees a return to normality for us all. You may be aware that there is an announcement by Boris Johnson at 8pm tonight regarding the current Covid-19 situation. However, as I promised to be in touch with you today, I wanted to keep you in the loop with our current plans for a return to school for pupils.
As you will have seen in the media, the staggered return to school for different year groups is going ahead as planned. Today has been a very productive training day for all staff, in which we have carried out the training we had planned in advance to ensure the quality of education for our young people continues to improve. Tomorrow will remain a logistical planning day for the implementation of mass testing. The details surrounding mass testing and the parental consent forms testing will be sent out after tomorrow, to ensure we have all areas of the protocols covered in advance and to allow for any amendments from central Government to reach our school.
The current details regarding pupils returning to school are as follows:
On Wednesday 6th January, remote learning for Year 11 and Year 13 students will commence. As with previous periods of remote learning, the details/class codes of how to access online lessons will be sent out to individual pupils. Details of how to access the remote curriculum can be found at the following link: https://www.budehaven.cornwall.sch.uk/remote-curriculum-hub/ The remote learning provision will continue for these year groups until the end of the week (Friday 8th January).
On Monday 11th January, Years 11 and 13 will return to school for face-to-face lessons, following their normal timetables. Remote learning for Years 7, 8, 9 10 and 12 will commence. Full details of this will be sent to pupils in advance.
A provision in school for vulnerable children and those of critical workers will be available from Wednesday 6th January. If your child needs a place within this provision, please email enquiries@budehaven.cornwall.sch.uk with your child’s name, year group and tutor group, which days you wish them to come into school, and if you are a critical worker, the nature of your work. We will then be able to provide a place for them as required. Please note that school uniform in this provision is not required, as PE lessons may run within the provision, dependent upon staffing.
In-school catering arrangements will not be available this week, and Aspens will provide details of the catering offer that will be in place from Monday 11th January – details of this will follow. Families in receipt of free school meals have been contacted regarding our food hamper provision. If you have any questions regarding this, please use the enquiries email address as detailed above and we will ensure it reaches the Aspens staff.
From Monday 18th January, all year groups will be in school, and normal lessons will commence for all pupils. If any changes are made at central Government level, I will communicate them with you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Dominic Wilkes
