Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Return to school in January and changes in response to the Government announcement on 30th December
I hope you and your families are well and that you had a lovely Christmas.
I am sure you will have heard the latest changes to the return of pupils to school in January, as per Gavin Williamson’s announcement yesterday. I am writing to provide you with the information I currently have, and I will be in touch again on Monday with more comprehensive details about the start of the term for pupils in different year groups.
As per my communication at the end of term, Monday 4th January is a whole staff INSET day, and the school is closed to all pupils. We have also assigned Tuesday 5th January to planning for the introduction of mass testing of staff and pupils from Monday 11th January. I will write to you all next week regarding the details of this, and there will be a team of staff assigned to this area of the operation of the school from early next week. If you have any questions regarding mass testing, we will provide details of the individuals leading on this on Monday, and how to raise any questions with them next week.
On Wednesday 6th January, remote learning for Year 11 and Year 13 students will commence. We will provide the details of this on Monday 4th January. The remote learning provision will continue for these year groups until the end of the week (Friday 8th January).
On Monday 11th January, Years 11 and 13 will return to school for fact-to-face lessons, following their normal timetables. Remote learning for Years 7, 8, 9 10 and 12 will commence. Full details of this will follow early next week.
A provision in school for vulnerable children and those of key workers will be available from Monday 11th January. We will send out a communication regarding this on Monday 4th January, from when you will be able to request a place. Please do not reply to this email with a request for a place in this provision, as it may not be processed.
On Monday 18th January, years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 will be in school, along with Years 11 and 13, when normal lessons for all year groups will recommence.
With the approval of the Oxford vaccine this week, and the roll out of mass testing, there is hopefully an end to this continual disruption in sight. In the meantime, if we all follow the rules, and ensure we take care of ourselves and each other, both in school and across our community, a return to normality can be achieved.
I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year, and I will be in touch again next week.
Best wishes for 2021!
Mr Dominic Wilkes
