On Monday 16th October, 70 Budehaven pupils were given the valuable opportunity to participate in CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) training as part of ‘Restart a Heart Day’.
‘Restart a Heart Day’ is an annual Europe-wide campaign with the aim of teaching as many young people as possible the life-saving skills of CPR.
Peter Juniper, of Triangle Training, delivered an interesting and informative session, explaining the benefits of administering CPR to someone suffering a cardiac arrest and emphasising the fact that it may well increase their chance of survival by two to three times. He encouraged the pupils to be confident and to “have a go”, as in such a situation the positive benefits of attempting resuscitation far outweigh any possible negatives.
The students practiced their skills on a number of CPR manikins known as ‘Annies’ to reinforce what they had learned.
