Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Potential disruption due to strike action by the NEU
You may be aware of the planned strike action by members of the National Education Union (NEU). The strikes have been planned due to a nationwide dispute between teaching unions and the government over teachers’ pay and conditions. It is important to stress that the strikes have not been organised due to any perceived issues in schools. The Department for Education has released guidance for schools, and following communication with the NEU, I can confirm that the dates that will be affected by strike action will be:
Whilst school closures are always a last resort, it is important to let you know that this may need to happen if we don’t have enough staff to safely open the school to all pupils. Whatever the situation, there will be a provision in place for vulnerable children, and those of Key Workers, as we provided throughout the Covid-19 pandemic school closures. Because of this uncertainty, we strongly recommend that you make alternative arrangements at this stage for the supervision of your child(ren) during these days, in case the decision to close the school needs to be made.
I appreciate how uncertain this situation is at this point, and I will communicate with you, any further information as I receive it.
Yours faithfully,
Mr D Wilkes
