Budehaven Science Department has had a busy week (12th-16th March) celebrating scientific discovery and exploration. Throughout the week we focused all our KS3 lessons on topics selected through the National Science Week programme. This event enabled our students to design, make, experiment and test a variety of different ideas, based on the concept of a ‘better world’.
We investigated ideas both past and present, covering topics from ‘plastic milk’ to ‘space nappies’. The students took park in activities such as ‘run to the deep’, ‘citizen science’ and thought about designs based on ergonomics.
Alongside the lessons we had a bunch of keen engineers designing, making (and racing postponed due to weather) rockets cars; during our lunch time sessions.
Overall 2018 science week has been a great platform for us to engage with the students and show them how awesome science is!
