Dear Parents and Carers,
I wrote to you recently to explain the grave concerns that I have over future funding proposals for our schools and others in Cornwall. Thank you to those of you that have contacted our MP, and to others that have signed the petition.
Across England there are similar concerns being expressed by headteachers, governors and parents. Parents and heads in Cheshire have been demonstrating, and heads and governors from across the country including Barnsley, London, the South East, East Devon and Cornwall have been on national and local news broadcasts.
Since I last wrote to you, we have been working hard with headteachers in Essex, East Sussex and West Sussex, and this afternoon schools in each of the four counties have written again to their MP; attached is a link to the letter that I have sent to Scott Mann this afternoon: http://www.budehaven.cornwall.sch.uk/news/funding-letter-to-scott-mann-mp/
Please Note: This will be available to download from 8.00pm tonight.
The governors and I are extremely concerned about the impact of the proposed National Funding Formula due to come into effect in April 2018. The budget pressures that Cornwall’s schools are already facing is difficult; on Sunday, over 27,000 tweets meant that #whatwouldyoucut was trending on Twitter as headteachers and governors in England posted photographs of things that face being cut if the proposed funding plans come into place.
If, on reading the letter, you have any queries at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
With best wishes,
Tracey Reynolds
Headteacher
