On Friday 12th Jan 2018 the Art Department embarks on Clean and Create: Part 3.
We continue the critical journey of educating our youngest pupils about the importance of keeping our oceans and beaches clean and free from plastics. Year 7 pupils have already completed their two minute beach cleans and have created wonderful posters as a part of joining the Bude Cleaner Seas community of people that care about our marine environment. Our visitors for the day, supporting Clean and Create are Avril Sainsbury our Rep from Bude Cleaner Seas, Zoe Gascoyne from Your Shore Beach Rangers and Claire Giner, secretary for the charity A Greener Bude. As a part of our summer term Clean and Create we raised £119 for this new local charity and we will be presenting Claire with a cheque in our final assembly tomorrow.
Throughout the day pupils will be involved in a number of creative workshops, including ‘ghost net bowls’, creating ‘yellow fish’, ’Cleaner Seas poetry’ and a recycling plastics, flower workshop –creations for our Eco garden. It’s going to be an amazing creative day and we are looking forward to discussing with pupils, their changing perceptions around plastics use.
We are all really proud of our pupils’ efforts and commitment to Bude Cleaner Seas and through our Clean and Create project, we look forward to bringing awareness and complementing the positive and pro-active community that already exists here in Bude.
