Following her participation in the Cornwall U17 Girls first ever overseas cricket tour in 2016 (as an U15), Amber Cummins, aged 16 of Budehaven School and Werrington Cricket Club, has again been selected for the touring team going to South Africa in February 2018. This time however she has the honour of being named as team captain.
Amber has been playing cricket since she was 10 years old starting at Bude Cricket Club before moving to Werrington Cricket Club a year later and playing for boys’ age group teams. In 2016, she started playing senior men’s cricket for Werrington.
Over the years Amber has represented and captained the Girls County Under 13s, Under 15s and this season has been named as captain of the Under 17s.
She also plays for Cornwall Women’s 1st XI although she has missed a few games so far this season due to working hard for her GCSE exams. Balancing her school work and cricket commitments has proved to be quite a challenge this year!
Amber is also a part of the Cornwall EPP (Emerging Player Programme) in January, which involves 7 hours training each week in Truro and Redruth.
Each player has to raise approximately £2300.00 to fund their trip and Amber is looking for sponsors to support her participation in representing and captaining Cornwall on this tour.
Amber would appreciate any support however small to help her reach the total required to fund the trip.
We are looking at the possibility of setting up a crowd funding appeal and full details will be available by visiting Amber’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ambersouthafrica
Thank you for your support.
