Dear Parent and Carer
We are writing to you as a parent of a student in our Area Resource Base (ARB) to ask for your opinion on the future of the ARB.
We have been working with the Local Authority on the most effective model for developing the provision for students within the ARB. One of the options we are considering is a more formal relationship with the Special Partnership Trust (SPT). The SPT are a Multi-Academy Trust which includes Cornwall’s special schools.
What are we proposing?
We are consulting with you on a proposal that will result in the management and support of the ARB being transferred to the SPT whilst keeping the ARB located at Budehaven Community School
If this proposal were to go ahead, we would transfer all the staff, leadership functions and students within the ARB to the SPT, including a lease for the portion of the Budehaven Community School building which accommodates the ARB. This is likely to happen alongside some other ARBs. The advantages of this change mean that there will be much greater specialist expertise for the needs of students in the ARB and more specific training for staff working with those students.
What will this mean for students who attend the Budehaven ARB?
Almost nothing. Students will continue to attend the ARB at Budehaven School as they currently do, they will wear Budehaven uniform and attend events at Budehaven, including tutor time in the mornings. We will continue to include students in the Budehaven ARB in classes as much as possible, depending on need. However, the students will not be on roll at Budehaven School and their teachers and support staff will be employed by the SPT. Budehaven staff and those who work in the ARB will continue to work together for the benefit of all students who have their education provision on the Budehaven site.
How can I find out more?
A meeting will be held at the school on Monday 27th November at 5.00pm. We would encourage you to attend if you have any questions, or simply want to learn more. Representatives from the SPT and Will Pritchard, from the Local Authority, will be present.
If you cannot attend the meeting on Monday 27th November, please email the school (email@example.com) and we will try to assist.
How can I make representations?
The opportunity to ask questions informally, either to the Special Partnership, the LA or the school is available both before and during the consultation period. Please send any initial questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Formal responses to this consultation should be sent to:-
