Budehaven Community School will be celebrating World Book Day and this year’s theme will require some steady sea legs as the pirates come to town!
On Thursday 2nd March, many areas of the school will be transformed into a pirate’s trove, where Tales from the High Seas will be in abundance. Throughout KS3, lessons will be themed to capture the spirit of the pirate
takeover…Our canteen will be full of cutlass culinary delights and lots of Cornish fare; there will be cake sales and a transatlantic treasure hunt to test the best pirate’s patience while the swashbuckling PE staff will be challenging all students to see if they are fit enough for the ‘Life of a Pirate’.
There’ll be tales of piracy and hornswaggle in the library, competitions to enter and the World Book Day £1 voucher for hearty pirates to collect. The library will also launch another “300 Words” story competition challenging our seafarers to tell us their own Tales of the High Seas.
Budehaven Buccaneers and salty old seadogs will not disappoint as they don their tricorn hats, perfect their hornpipe and gather on the deck. This is where we need our students’ support – a crew!
So landlubbers, on the 2nd March, come into school ready for some piracy – wear your best pirate costume and bring a £1 donation for the Budehaven Booty which we will share out in true pirate fashion between the library and several charities.
There will be plenty happening ashore throughout the week so all you seafarers need to keep a weather eye out, as Captain Jack Sparrow would say. Shiver me timbers!
Make sure you don’t miss this adventure of a lifetime! (Or we might get you to walk the plank…)
